St. Brigid’s Day not only brought the Spring to All Saints’ N.S. but also brought over 70 grandparents to our school. A special assembly was organised to celebrate three special occasions, St. Brigid’s Day, Grandparents’ Day and Catholic School’s Week.
Fourth and Fifth class pupils hosted the assembly which was celebrated by Canon Connolly. This was followed by the Grandparents visiting the various classrooms and listening to the musical talents of our pupils as they played their different instruments from traditional to brass, guitars, and ukuleles.
The children had been very busy writing stories, poems, and prayers for their Grandparents which were on display in the hall. Likewise, they made St. Brigid’s crosses which were blessed by Canon Connolly and these were presented to the Grandparents.
Following these light refreshments were provided. Overall this was a very memorable occasion and it provided a wonderful opportunity for all at All Saints’ to demonstrate the valuable contribution that Grandparents make in our children’s lives.
