The children in Junior Infants have been working hard in their first term at school. Here are some of the highlights of the term.
Autumn Aistear
The theme for our Autumn Aistear in October was Percy’s Woodland Adventures. The children really enjoyed dressing up as Percy and taking on the roles of the various animals he helps in the park.
Autumn Art
The boys and girls in Junior Infants were busy in October making hedgehogs and hedgehog homes in Aistear. They also made some spooky Halloween art.
Halloween fun
The children took part in a pumpkin hunt around the school with a treat for each pumpkin they found. We also put on our best dance moves and did the Monster Mash.
November Aistear
In November the children headed off into space for our Aistear theme. We discovered all about the night sky and the planets in our solar system. We got aboard our rocket and blasted off to explore all we learned.
Getting creative with Space
Discovering how craters are made on the moon.
Using our moon sand and some playdoh asteroids the children learned how craters are formed on the moon.
Christmas
Little elves have taken over the Junior Infant room this month in preparation for Christmas.
The children were getting creative in December making some Christmas arts and crafts. They also got to explore their literacy skills with the free writing activities.
Here is a look at our Christmas crafts.
Junior Infants got into the Christmas spirit by taking part in the Christmas Jumper Day for Ballybay Cancer Society. We got wrapped up and went on a Santa walk in the village, singing Christmas songs along the way.
