Partnership Schools
Doohamlet NS is a trained and certified Partnership School. Partnership Schools Ireland is a joint initiative by National Parents Council Primary (NPC), the Irish Primary Principals’ Network and the Department of Education and Skills. Better outcomes for children are the main objectives of a “Partnership School”, achieved by the whole school community, planning and working together on agreed activities.
The partnership will be led by an Action Partnership Team (ATP) made up of pupils, teachers, parents, SNAs, ancillary staff, Board of Management and members of the local community. The committee will focus on an area of school life that they believe could be improved and work together to put measures in place to improve that area. The ATP team is a fun experience for pupils and also allows pupils to work with teachers, parents, the wider school staff and local community members to develop leadership skills. The children in our classrooms today will be our community leaders in the future.
Research indicates that participating schools have benefited greatly from the extra ideas, practical hands-on help and support provided by committee members.
This year the ATP team is working on two academic targets; one behavioural target and one climate of partnership target. The ATP team will meet regularly to review and coordinate these targets.
