Third and Fourth Class
Tessellations are patterns resulting from arranging, or tiling, shapes without any gaps.
Pupils of 3rd and 4th class created their own irregular shape ,cut it out ,drew around the shape ensuring that it tessellated.
Here are the steps that we followed.
The end result was wonderful pieces of art work.
Maths Eyes Activity-Finding Angles and Lines
Pupils of 4th class learned about acute, obtuse and right angles.
They went in search of these angles in their homes and outside in their local environments.
Also they learned about the different lines.
The pupils discovered that Parallel lines are straight lines that always stay the same distance from each other and never meet:They also discovered when two lines make a right angle they are then called Perpendicular.
Using their Maths Eyes they took numerous photographs of these angles and lines.
We decided to present some of these photographs in the following slideshow.
In Mathematics Senior Infants have been learning all about capacity. They engaged in various hands on activities using their scientific skills with a particular focus on investigating ,comparing and ordering capacities of different containers.
They had great fun filling containers full and half full.
